2.6.2 In case of carbon monoxide poisoning

Carbon monoxide poisoning can cause brain damage or even death.

The symptoms include nausea, headache, dizziness, ringing in the ears and loss of consciousness.

  • Keep all areas well ventilated.

  • Do not block exhaust outlets.

  • Do not idle the engine when people are in the water or while mooring.

If you suspect carbon monoxide poisoning:

  • Have the victim breathe fresh air deeply.

  • If breathing stops, resuscitate.

A victim often revives, then relapses because organs are damaged by lack of oxygen.

Seek immediate medical attention.
