2.4.3 In case of fire

A fire on board can easily lead to an explosion. Act quickly!

  • Turn off all the power sources:

    • Turn off the engine and all the main switches.

    • If the boat is connected to shore-side electricity, unhook the cable.

    • Close the gas tank and carry it on shore, if possible.

  • Make sure everyone on board is wearing a personal flotation device.

  • Use the fire extinguisher or a fire blanket to put out the fire.

  • If the fire starts to get out of control, evacuate the boat to save lives.

  • If needed, call for help using a distress signal device.

Do not use water! If the fire gets it touch with the engine fuel or the flammable gas in the stove, water can spread the fire and cause an explosion.
